Commute Time
Always consider how long it will take you to get to work or school. The apartment may be exactly what you are looking for but if your travel time means you are rushing to get there or falling asleep on the way home it may not be the best option all round. How much gas money will you have to budget for?
Life Interests
What interests do you pursue in your spare time? Is the apartment located centrally? Are restaurants, shops, museums and other amusements within walking or easy driving distance? Is there a pool and fitness center at the apartment community? Are you a pet owner? Does the community you are considering accept pets, if so what are their policies? Do they have walking paths?
Value Versus Price
Does the apartment come with appliances like a washer and dryer? Are any of the utilities paid? Do you have to pay to park your vehicle in addition to the rent and utilities? Low prices do not always mean good value for money. Check out what is included in the monthly rent, do the math and you may be surprised!
Choosing an Environment to Suit Your Lifestyle
When you come home do you need peace and quiet? Does your demanding schedule at school or work mean that you have to study or have serious down time in order to perform at your best? Most of us would answer yes to this question no matter what our profession. Always visit the community or area you are considering at the weekend or evenings. Observation is the best way to get a feel for the type of neighbors you will be living near.
Cube Versus Community Do you like green spaces with mature trees, pleasant picnic areas and walking paths or are you better suited to an elevator up to your apartment? Consider this, are you the sort of person who likes getting to know their neighbors and joining in the greater community or do you prefer to remain anonymous? Choosing an apartment should be more than just a place to hang your hat; make it a place to call home!
